Libigel Review

Libigel is a libido enhancing gel for women that has been created by Bio-Sante laboratories in the hopes of becoming the first FDA approved product for treating low libido in women. Currently this product is not on the market but, may soon be. In the meantime, many women who have heard about this product are interested in finding out all they can prior to it's possible release.

Let's begin by pointing out that Libigel is a testosterone gel that is applied by rubbing into the upper portion of a woman's arm once a day. It has been through two or three clinical trials and at this point seems to be doing fairly well in increasing the libido for women who have had their ovaries removed and have a low sex drive and desire. In these tests, Libigel has had no serious side effects.

Concerns

While this is good news, it is not without it's concerns. In most if not all of these clinical studies, the subjects were women who had their ovaries removed. The ovaries produce ½ of the testosterone in a woman's body. So, while increasing the level of testosterone for these women may indeed prove effective in increasing their sex drive while not having any adverse side effects this simply may not be the case with women who have a low libido and functioning ovaries.

In many cases, testosterone therapy in other situations has been linked to some pretty significant side effects including undesired hair growth, oily skin, acne and the deepening of the voice. In these cases the side effects have been linked to too much testosterone in the woman's system. While a woman who has lost her ovaries may well benefit from testosterone therapy not all women with low libidos may need added testosterone and in fact, giving these women added testosterone may in fact produce the undesirable side effects that are often seen in other testosterone therapies. This could make Libigel unusable for many women.

One would hope that before the clinical trials end on Libigel, that there are tests done to see if it is truly safe for all women. If not, and this product is FDA approved, it would be advisable for women with functioning ovaries to beware of this product or at least use it with utmost caution.

Conclusion

While clinical trials on Libigel shows that it may have some promise for certain women, as things stands there are some very real and grave concerns as to whether it will be a product that is safe for all women to use. Unless further clinical trials put to rest these very serious concerns, it would be wise to seek a product that may be safer to use. As things stand now, this is not a product that can be even marginally recommended.

It would be wise, for any woman who is tempted to try this product to consult with a physician and discuss with them the side effects associated with testosterone therapy and then judge for themselves if the possible benefits are worth these risks.
